Mother Knows Best: Dating Advice from Mom
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years—whether it’s in politics, business, or dating—it’s that moms always seem to know what they’re talking about. With Mother’s Day around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time to round up some real dating advice from real moms. And trust me, they didn’t hold back.
At DateRightStuff, we’re all about connecting people who actually want the same things—shared values, real relationships, and someone you can build a future with. So, it only made sense to go to the women who’ve been coaching us on this stuff since day one: our moms.
Here’s what they had to say:
1. "Find someone who makes you better."
It’s not just about common interests or chemistry. The best relationships are built with someone who challenges you, supports you, and helps you level up.
2. "Pay attention to how they treat people when no one’s watching."
Manners at the table are great, but how someone treats a server, a parent, or even a stranger says everything you need to know.
3. "Don’t ignore red flags."
Moms have a sixth sense for spotting trouble before we do. If something feels off—trust it.
4. "Shared values beat shared hobbies."
Sure, it’s fun if you both love hiking, but in the long run, having the same priorities matters way more. Especially in conservative dating, faith, family, and future goals need to align.
5. "Date someone you’d want your kids to look up to."
It’s easy to get caught up in looks or status, but thinking long-term shifts your focus to what really matters.
At the end of the day, mom’s advice is simple but solid: know who you are, what you stand for, and don't settle. That’s exactly the spirit we’re building at DateRightStuff.
So this Mother’s Day, maybe take a second to thank your mom—and maybe even take her advice to heart.
(You’ll thank her later.)
